We solve problems by interweaving design thinking and Indigenous knowledge.
Yerrabingin was co-founded by Christian Hampson in 2018. Yerrabingin is a visionary start-up that seeks to disrupt conventional approaches to ending Indigenous disadvantage, and create intercultural opportunities for future generations to thrive.
With over 20 years of experience working in Indigenous Cultural Heritage, Christian sought to walk a new path by interweaving collaborative design thinking and Indigenous knowledge. Yerrabingin have become a leading force in the commercial design industry by delivering environmentally conscious native landscapes and place making designs enriched with Indigenous narratives.
Our Vision is that sensing and caring for Country is something that transcends cultural differences and highlights the many values that are similar across the cultures of our contemporary communities. Supporting a socially inclusive, resilient, and innovative community based on, honouring the wisdom and kinship of all cultures, captured through the lens of custodianship.
What does Yerrabingin mean?
Yerrabingin means ‘we walk together’.
Yerrabingin comes from the Indigenous language of Mooktung, spoken by the Bidawal and Maneroo people of the south eastern high country of NSW.
Our logo, designed by co-founder Christian Hampson, reflects this as well as one of the creation stories.
The footprints are of the first people who were created by the Great spirit. There are also footprints of the Goongwan (the Emu), the Burru (the Kangaroo) and the Yibai (the Goanna) who taught the people the lore and the stories to care for country. The circles represent the interconnectivity of kinship and the song lines that are flowing out from them.
